What is the going rate for Las Vegas Locksmith services

What are the average going rates when hiring a Las Vegas locksmith company? In most cases it seems that any company that offers some kind of services has taken their rates up considerably especially since the lack of workers in the workforce these days. And this could also lead to home services such as the need for a locksmith in Las Vegas. So we set out to find out what are the locksmith rates currently and what should we expect when the need of such work is called into play. The results you see below is what we were able to gather using three Las Vegas locksmith companies from different sides of town.

What is the going rate to hire a locksmith Las Vegas service provider for a car lockout? The information that was given was for either a Japanese or American made vehicles. The average car lockout service charge was between $65 to $95. If your car was locked out on the strip or downtown the cost was $95 to $125. The price of the lockout was lower if the Las Vegas locksmith company had someone already in the area.

What is the cost of rekeying a home that has three locks? The reason that we asked the locksmith companies about rekeying three locks specifically, is because most homes have three locks. In most cases there's a deadbolt on the front door and a deadbolt with a knob lock on the door coming from the garage. The answer we got from the Las Vegas locksmith companies is a little tricky as every locksmith company wanted to know the name brand of the locks. So what we did is give the two common name brands,  Kwikset and Schlage. The Kwikset rekey price was anywhere from $85 to $155. Where the Schlage rekey was priced at $110 to $185. It was a noticeable price charge between one lock brand to the other, but if we take into consideration that Schlage locks are considered by most to be a higher quality security lock system.

What is the cost that a Las Vegas locksmith company charges to install a high security deadbolt? The problem with this question is that every locksmith in Las Vegas sells different name brands so when we look at these prices we should note that it might not be comparing apples to apples. One Las Vegas locksmith company priced us with a Laser type keyway that was said to be unpickable at the price of $195. Another locksmith company gave us a price on installing Mul-T-Lock deadbolt for $245 including the service call. The third Las Vegas locksmith quoted us a whopping charge of $350 to install a Medeco deadbolt. Needless to say, I personally felt that up to $250 to install a single high security deadbolt was fair.

How much to install a panic-bar system on a rear door of a business? Keep in mind that panic-bars are only for commercial buildings. The range for this kind of work was huge. And just to make sure it's understood, the panic-bar I was pricing was not for a double door as some businesses might need it. The first Las Vegas locksmith would not give me a price range as they said that there's just to many variables. But the other two locksmith companies had no problem. One locksmith Las Vegas service provider said that panic-bars starts at $400 installed but that they can easily get to $750 if not more. The third locksmith company said that I should expect a total charge of $600 to $800 max. When I asked how long the install would take, i was told two to four hours. This is definitely not a cheap thing to get done but you have to have it in some businesses to meet code.

The last question we asked these Las Vegas locksmith companies was what do they charge for home lockouts? This time we specifically told the locksmith company that we had a Schlage deadbolt just because we wanted the worst case scenario. The answers were as fallows. The first company quoted us $85 and up, but could not tell us how high it could go to. Another Las Vegas locksmith told us somewhere between $150 to $200. And the third locksmith company said if we send them the picture of the lock they could come pretty close to the total charge. So we sent them a picture of a common Schlage deadbolt (full disclosure, the picture of the lock came from my mothers front door). The quote was $165. My take was that it's likely that if I had a lockout and needed a locksmith to open my door that had a Schlage deadbolt it would probably coast me around $175 give or take.

Please note that every customer might experience something different, and that every locksmith company has their own rate and their own pricing, so do your own due diligence.
